The Office for National Statistics (ONS) publishes core statistics for child and infant deaths in England and Wales, the latest data release is from 2023. The Public Health England (PHE) fingertips tool issues infant mortality statistics and comparisons of mortality rates for different geographic areas in England. PHE has a child and maternal health fingertips tool which provides data on key child and maternal health indicators, pregnancy, birth, early years and child health outcomes across England. The PHE mortality profile monitors trends in mortality rates and causes of death across the English population. The National Child Mortality Database (NCMD) publishes in-depth analysis of overall child mortality in England, deep dives into specific causes of death, and complete data releases.
MBRRACE-UK conducts national surveillance into the deaths of women and babies who die during pregnancy or shortly after in the UK. MBRRACE-UK also publishes reports based on the findings of the maternal and perinatal programmes of work. The Learning from the Lives and Deaths – people with a learning disability and autistic people (LeDeR) summarises the lives and deaths of people with learning disabilities and autistic people in LeDeR annual reports. The NSPCC publishes statistics briefings on child deaths due to abuse or neglect. The ONS publishes homicide data for England and Wales, covering all age groups.
